Grace is God’s undeserved love, welcome and help. It is the gift God gives us through Jesus when we cannot earn our way back to him. Grace means God knows the truth about us and still moves toward us with forgiveness and new life.
One of the clearest pictures of grace is the criminal beside Jesus on the cross. He had no time to repair his record, join a church or prove that he had changed. He asked Jesus to remember him, and Jesus received him. Salvation was given as a gift.
Grace takes sin and harm seriously. It names what is wrong, offers forgiveness and begins the work of repair. Consequences and boundaries may still be necessary. Grace gives us a new standing with God and the power to begin living differently.
At The Lakes Church, grace means nobody needs to pretend they have it all together. We come to Jesus because we need his forgiveness, healing and help. As we receive grace, we learn to offer it to other people with the same combination of love, truth and healthy boundaries.
