What happens at a church service?

The Lakes Church meets each Sunday in Cairns. Check our homepage for up to date times and locations. A service usually includes songs about God, communion, prayer and a short message from the Bible. The whole gathering is relaxed, and you do not need any church background to follow what is happening.

Communion uses bread and juice to remember Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. You can take part if you want to remember and thank Jesus, or let it pass without anyone making an issue of it. If singing, prayer or communion is unfamiliar, you are welcome to watch and work out what you think.

During school terms, Lakes Kids is a special program for younger kids. Your children can also stay with you if you prefer. They are welcome in the auditorium, and parent rooms are available if you would find them helpful.

Our welcome team can answer questions when you arrive, and there is parking in our carpark or on nearby streets. After the service there are free refreshments and time to talk, but you are also free to leave quietly. Come as you are, in whatever you normally wear.
