Yes. Christians believe God can be known personally because Jesus has made a relationship with God possible. That does not mean God becomes predictable or that every prayer produces a dramatic experience. It means you can speak with God, learn to recognise his voice and grow in trust over time.
Prayer is a good place to begin. It can be as simple as telling God what is true: what you are grateful for, afraid of, angry about or hoping for. The Psalms are helpful because they give us words for joy, doubt, disappointment and praise. You do not need to perform for God or hide what you are really thinking.
Relationships also need attention. Jesus regularly stepped away from noise to pray, so it can help to make a little quiet space. Reading the Bible, especially a Gospel, helps us recognise the kind of God we are listening for. Trusted Christian friends and a healthy church community can help us test what we think we are hearing.
Start with a few honest minutes rather than an ambitious routine. Ask God to show you what he is like, read a short passage, and notice what stays with you. At The Lakes Church, we believe God often meets people through ordinary practices repeated over time.
