Doubt does not disqualify you from Christian faith. Some of Jesus’ closest followers had questions, including John the Baptist, Thomas and the disciples who met the risen Jesus. They didn’t pretend to be certain. They brought their doubts to Jesus.
Doubts come from different places. Some are intellectual questions. Others grow from grief, disappointment, church hurt or a prayer that seems unanswered. Those experiences need more than a quick argument. At The Lakes Church, we make room for honest questions without treating doubt as a problem to be fixed.
Faith does not require certainty about everything. It means having enough trust in Jesus to take the next step. That might mean reading a Gospel, praying honestly, investigating one question or telling a trustworthy person what you are struggling with. Doubt usually becomes heavier when it is hidden and carried alone.
You can say to God, ‘I believe; help me where I do not believe.’ You may not receive every answer at once. Keep looking at Jesus, stay close to people who will listen, and take the next faithful step you can see.
