No. Science gives us remarkably good ways to study the natural world. It helps us ask how things work, test ideas against evidence and correct conclusions that do not fit the facts. Christians do not need to be frightened by that. If God made the world, learning how it works can deepen our wonder rather than shrink our faith.
Science works with questions that can be observed and tested. God is not one more object inside the universe for a laboratory to measure, so science cannot simply prove or disprove God. Questions about why anything exists, why the universe is understandable, and what gives a human life value reach beyond what science alone can settle.
That does not mean faith gets to ignore evidence. Christians have sometimes held tightly to an interpretation when the evidence should have made us look again. At The Lakes Church we want to listen carefully to scientists and read the Bible according to what its writers were trying to say. For example, Genesis tells us that creation depends on God, but it was not written as a modern science textbook.
Our faith rests on Jesus, not on winning an argument about a scientific question. Science can describe a great deal about the world we live in. Following Jesus helps us know the God who made it, what our lives are for, and how we should care for one another and the earth.
