2026
As we continue to stand on Jesus’ promise that he will build his church, we don’t want to lose sight of Jesus himself. Buildings matter. Mission matters. Serving, groups, and making plans matter.
But at the centre of it all stands a person. Jesus.
Our mission is still to love people and invite them to join us in a growing relationship with Jesus. Our vision is still to be a church devoted to lifelong growth, healthy relationships, warm hospitality, walking with the wounded and
introducing people to Jesus.
Our focus for 2026 is simple: to magnify Jesus.
Magnifying doesn’t change the nature of the thing you are focusing on, and Jesus doesn’t need improving, upgrading, or adding to. Magnifying Jesus will make him clearer, closer, and more visible in our lives. We will see him for who he really is. Like adjusting a lens, magnification can bring Jesus into sharp focus which will help us magnify him to others.
In Luke 1, Mary says, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.”
Mary didn’t add to God’s greatness. She made his greatness visible through her life. What God had done in her overflowed into praise and joy.
That is our heart and our focus for 2026.
We want Jesus to be clearer in our worship. More visible in our lives. More central in our decisions. More evident in our love for others. When Jesus is magnified, our faith deepens and our invitation widens. A magnified Jesus draws people toward him.
This year we will have more opportunities for evangelism (sharing Jesus), discipleship (growing with Jesus) and mission (serving the wider community of Cairns and partnering with others around the world). At the same time we will refresh our physical buildings and technology with the grant money we’ve received.
2026 is about bringing Jesus into focus. As he is magnified, we believe lives will be shaped, faith will grow, and others will be drawn to discover who Jesus truly is.
