How to Speak Up about Jesus
Geoff continued the Speak Up series this week by interviewing Kevin & Angela Nicholls.
Acts 1:8 NLT
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Where do you even start with that?
Even though all personal evangelism involves Speaking Up about the same message, not all evangelism happens in the same way. There are at least three kinds we see modelled in the New Testament, when it comes to relationships. Three levels or approaches depending on how well you know someone.
I borrowed from a great article called ‘Evangelism isn’t as scary as you think it is‘.
1. Family Evangelism (Speak Up in your family)
2. Friendship Evangelism (Speak Up with your friends)
3. Contact Evangelism (Speak Up on the street)
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
The good news is a person, not a theory or a set of beliefs. Whoever you Speak Up to and however you do it, the goal is to point to the person of Jesus. We are introducing people to Jesus. People need to hear the good news about Jesus, and there is no one-size-fits-all prescription for how that has to happen. It just has to happen.
