Building with Lego is a fun activity for the young, and the young at heart. Building a Lego house involves two basic principles: 1. Start with a solid foundation, and 2. Use every brick in a helpful way.
These are the same two principles that God uses to build his church. He starts with Jesus as a solid foundation and he uses every person in a helpful way as part of the church.
1 Peter 2:4 refers to Jesus as the living cornerstone of God’s house. A cornerstone is the most important part of a house – it is the solid foundation. Jesus is the living foundation of our church.
The very next verse refers to people as living stones that God is using to build his house. You might think that your skills aren’t relevant here, but there’s more to do than you realise. When you take your place to serve and build God’s house, the church, you are taking your place in something that has incredible significance.
Taking your place in God’s house is important because by playing your part many others will have their lives and faith changed. When you join a team and serve as part of our church you are a living brick built on Jesus the living foundation, taking your place in God’s living house which is saving lives and making a difference in the world.
